Baranetskyi Ruslan Fedorovych

First Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine – the Head of the Antiterrorist Centre at the Security Service of Ukraine

Baranetskyi Ruslan Fedorovych was born on July 5th 1971 in Kostryzhivka city, Zastavnivskyi district of Chernivtsi region.

In 1993, Ruslan Baranetskyi completed technical studies at Chernivtsi State University. In 1994, he graduated from the Juridical Personnel Training Institute for the Security Service of Ukraine and, in 2000, he graduated from the SSU National Academy. In addition, in 2007, he graduated from Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, majoring in law and has also received a PhD in Law.

In 1993, he began his military service in the state security authorities. While working in a regional SSU office, he was promoted from Security Officer to the Unit Head.

Since 2004, he has been working in the Central Office of the Security Service of Ukraine, where his position rose from Deputy Head of a unit to the Head of the Main Directorate for Fighting Corruption and Organised Crime of the Security Service of Ukraine.

On July 2019, Ruslan Baranetskiy was appointed to the position of the First Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine by Decree of the President of Ukraine.

Major General Ruslan Baranetskyi was awarded with the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi of 3-d class for personal courage and heroism in protection of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. He has a number of departmental awards. For valor and dedication in fulfillment of official duties, Ruslan Baranetskyi was awarded with the SSU honorary weapon.
