SBU finishes pretrial investigation of the downed IL-76 aircraft case (audio conversations of terrorists)
The investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in Dnipro finished the pretrial investigation of the criminal proceeding concerning the leader of the LNR terrorist organization I.Plotnytskyi and two commanders of the illegal armed groups under the case of IL-76 aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine downed in 2014.
The SBU investigators received absolute evidence that the head of the LNR terrorist organization I.Plotnytskyi, who at the time of committing the crime was the commander of “battalion “Zorya” illegal armed formation, together with Alexander Patrushevyi (at that time his deputy) and commander of "Vitiaz" illegal armed formation O.Hurieiev were direct organizers of the terrorist act. In order to block the ATO forces, they made an ambush and guided the groups of militants armed with man-portable air defense systems who blocked the air traffic of the Luhansk Airport.
Please be reminded that in June 2014 while getting down in Luhansk Airport an IL-76 military transport aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was struck by man-portable air defense system. The aircraft began to burn and crashed, nine crew members and forty soldiers were killed.
The indictment considering the terrorists was approved by the Prosecutors’ Office in Dnipropetrovsk region and was sent to the court. Actions of these persons were classified as a terrorist attack under Part 3 Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
