SBU reveals prohibited mines in ATO area that are in operational service with Russian army
In Donetsk region the SBU officers together with servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine revealed Russia-produced ammunition and component parts for it the use of which is prohibited in more than 150 countries including Ukraine.
From the cache equipped in Mariinskyi district where the former position of the militants of so-called DNR was located, the SBU operatives confiscated 15 PMN-2 antipersonnel mines, some component parts for mines of different modification, one box with marking ‘UNI-1’, a Certificate of quality and a Shipping ticket of the military unit No 42754 dated April 5, 2005.
The military unit No 42754 is the part of Russian Armed Forces and is located in Plekhany of Aleksandrovskii district in Vladimirskaia Oblast.
The fact that Ukraine performing the provisions of Ottawa Convention (1997) about the prohibition of use, stocking, manufacture and passing of antipersonnel mines and their destruction liquidated all ammunition of this type as opposed to Russia which on principle refused to sign this international agreement proves that the found mines are in operational service with the Russian Army.
The mines were destroyed by one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
