SBU prevents terrorist attacks prepared by Russian secret services in Mariupol
During the briefing the SBU Head Vasyl Hrytsak informed that the SBU prevented terrorist attacks in Mariupol prepared by saboteurs at the direction of the Main Department of the General Stuff of Russian Armed Forces.
The main task of the terrorists was to set off an explosive near the site of a National Guard battalion. All the criminals are citizens of Ukraine, two of them are natives of the Russian Federation. One of the latter came to the city from temporarily occupied territories after serving his sentence.
The SBU operatives apprehended two terrorists while putting a mine of Russian production in one of the public places of Mariupol. According to the conclusions of experts the mine POM-2R1 was included in the inventory of Russian Armed Forces in 1997.This mine is not produced in Ukraine and is not in operational use.
In addition, the SBU officers confiscated from terrorists three 400 g and 200 g TNT blocks, RGD-5 and F-1 grenades with fuses, electric detonators, rounds for automatic weapons, package with bolts, screws and other metal objects planned to be used as subammunition, alarm with wires.
In addition, the law enforcers apprehended the third member of the terrorist group who performing the task of Russian handlers tried to deliver RGD-5 grenades and six 600 g TNT blocks to Mariupol.
