The SBU officers released hostages, who were captured on Turkish marine vessel in the territorial waters of Ukraine.
September 4, 2016, a SOS-signal came from a ship, which sailed under Turkish flag from Mykolaiv to Jordan with metalwork cargo.
According to previous information in the midnight two crew members began a fight on board and wounded four colleagues. After that the criminals de-energized the vessel and took 5 hostages.
After an emergency meeting with the participation of the SBU Anti-Terrorist Center in Odesa Region, representatives of the Border Guard Service, the Police, the State Emergency Service and Pivdennyi Port leadership the decision of force release of hostages was taken.
As a result of a successful assault of the board the officers of the “Alfa” Special Operations Center released the hostages and apprehended the criminals.
The wounded Turkish sailors were given first medical aid.
The police launched a criminal case under Part 3, Article 278 (hijacking of a vessel) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Investigative actions are under way.
