Kharkiv Police inspector caught on taking bribes for non-lethal weapon permits
Licensing inspector of one of the Kharkiv Police regional offices was caught on bribery by the Security Service of Ukraine together with Prosecutor’s Office.
Major of Police systematically extorted money from citizens, who wanted to buy special weapons for shooting rubber bullets, but didn’t have legal grounds for obtaining a license.
During the investigative and search actions the law enforcers recorded the fact of receiving by the policewoman of a 12-thousand-hryvnia bribe for illegal permit for a non-lethal weapon. On 6 September, the SBU field officers detained the bribe-taker while she was receiving the same amount of money from another “client”.
Criminal investigation was launched under part 3 article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The perpetrator was detained under article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
