SBU uncovers several administrators of anti-Ukrainian communities in social networks (video)

The SBU officers during August have stopped the activity of several administrators who supported anti-Ukrainian communities in social networks “Vkontakte” and “Odnoklassniki”.

The law enforcers established and detained pro-Russian propagandists in Kyiv, Lviv, Cherkasy, Khmelnytskyi, Chernigiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions.

The SBU operatives established that the resident of Vatytine (Cherkasy region) used his social network pages to disseminate anti-Ukrainian materials. The propagandist was detained in Kyiv railway station while returning from regular instruction in Moscow.

In the capital of Ukraine, the so-called press-secretary and the active member of the anti-Ukrainian separatist organization created a number of sources in social networks subsequently used for appeals to overthrow government, dissemination of anti-Ukrainian materials, supporting military aggression of the RF against Ukraine, promoting ideas of creating so-called “novorossiya”.

Fulfilling the orders of the Russian coordinators, the separatist administrator from Khmelnytskyi region used his electronic resources to disseminate materials with public appeals to change the territorial boundaries and national borders of Ukraine, to illegally take-over of active government, to justify aggression of the Russian Federation and criminal actions of LNR/DNR terrorist formations. In one of these groups, the suspect posted photos with cynical commentaries about the killed and injured participants of the ATO.

In Lviv region, in line with the tasks of Russian puppeteers an anti-Ukrainian propagandist created an extensive network of web-sources and communities – more than two dozens of pages. The man posted appeals to take-over of government and disseminated anti-Ukrainian materials to support the RF military aggression against our country.

The SBU operatives documented that the agitators were financed by the Russian secret services got the task to boost the anti-Ukrainian propaganda just on the eve of the Independence Day. The main task of the Kremlin informational mercenaries was to refute the central authorities in several country’s regions. In line with tasks of Russian curators, the offenders incited to take-over the government, change and overthrow the constitutional order and violate territorial integrity of the country.

         During searches of the suspects’ residences, the SBU operatives confiscated hardware and mobile equipment with the evidences of receiving tasks from Russian curators and publishing anti-Ukrainian materials.

         A number of criminal proceedings on the uncovered facts have been initiated under Article 109 (actions aimed at forceful change or overthrow of the constitutional order or take-over of government), Article 110 (trespass against territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine), Article 258-3 (creation of terrorist group or organization) and Article 436-1 (Production or dissemination of communist, Nazi symbols and propaganda of communist and national-socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

         The pre-trial investigation is under way.

         During 2014-2017 the SBU registered 72 criminal proceedings. More than 60 verdicts were obtained on the materials provided by the SBU investigators engaged in pre-trial investigations for persons who committed propaganda offences in “Vkontakte” and “Odnoklassniki” social networks.

         The SBU operatives also terminated the operation of 70 Internet communities of fake “pseudo-national republics” in different regions of Ukraine.
