SBU uncovers a group of corrupt field officers in Kharkiv region (video)
SBU operatives uncovered a group of corrupt field officers, in cooperation with the Internal Security unit of the Police, under procedural guidance of the Prosecutor’s Office and with the assistance of the Field Police Office.
SBU officers established that acting officers of the Field Police Office organized a scheme of systematic money extortion from the drivers for alleged traffic-related offences. The field officers used a taxi driver as an intermediary to the fraud.
During the pretrial investigation the law enforcers documented that members of the group had repeatedly received bribes from the local residents.
SBU officers detained three policemen on receiving a regular bribe amounting over UAH 20,000 (USD 700) from the driver.
The criminal proceeding was initiated under Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Currently, the issue of notifying the offenders of suspicion in crime commitment and choosing the measure of restrain is being settled.
The urgent investigation actions are ongoing.
