SBU exposes telephone terrorists in different regions of Ukraine
SBU officers in Cherkasy region and in Kyiv exposed two anonyms who have made false reports of terrorist threats.
SBU operatives in Uman (Cherkasy region) identified and detained a man who allegedly mined the premise in the hotel located near the Rabbi Nakhman Historical and Cultural Center. Law enforcers detained an offender near the hotel complex. He explained his actions by order from competitors who wanted to harm business of the owners of this complex.
Kyiv - SBU officers identified a resident of the capital who invented a story about the mines of a branch bank in Obolon district.
Law enforcement officers did not find any suspicious items after evacuation of people from the financial institution and detailed inspection of the building and surrounding area.
SBU officers detained the offender in her house. The woman explained her act by trying to harm the bank due to the existing debt for the borrowed loan.
In both cases the criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 1 Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
SBU reminds that regardless of the motives, the actions of the telephone terrorists are punishable by imprisonment for a term of two to six years. For a repeated offence, the offender would get from four to eight years.
The anonymous callers will also have to reimburse expenses of state and commercial institutions that have suffered damage from the unlawful actions.
