SBU detains in Odesa a militant of “DNR” terrorist organization, recruited by Russian intelligence agencies
The SBU CI Department officials detained in Odesa a militant of “DNR” terrorist organization, which arrived in the region for fulfilling the FSB RF tasks.
The SBU operatives established that resident of Odesa region within the group of 9 mercenaries received training in one of military facilities of Rostov region in 2014. Afterwards, a militant was enlisted in one of illegal armed groups of so-called “DNR”. In July 2014 he was at the cutting edge of terrorists in Shakhtarsk district of Donetsk region and took direct part in armed conflict with the ATO forces.
After a while, being in the RF territory, a man was recruited by the FSB officials. He received a task from his curators, upon returning in Odesa region, to collect update intelligence about the situation in the region, in particular in contiguous areas of so-called Transdniestria. He also had to “work” illegal channels of penetration in the territory of Ukraine from Trans-Dniester region of Republic of Moldova.
The SBU CI Department officials received intelligence about arrival of ex-militant in Odesa from the territory of temporarily annexed Crimea, and detained him according to the procedure provided for by the legislation.
The militant received a notice in committing a crime, stipulated by p.1 Article 258-3 of the Criminal code of Ukraine. The custody was chosen as a restraint measure for him.
The investigations are under way.
