SBU shuts down extensive network of weapons and ammo sales
SBU officers shut down an extensive network of sales of weapons and ammo transported from the ATO area.
The law enforcers established that an Uman citizen organized the arms trading on the territory of Cherkasy, Odesa, Kyiv, Vinnitsa and Poltava regions. The offender sold factory-produced firearms, was engaged in restoration and reequipping of traumatic weapons into combat arms for further resale to the representatives of the criminal circles. He searched for clients in specialized Internet forums.
According to the SBU materials, in several regions the businessman had accomplices employed for posting ammo, firearms and spares from the ATO area.
The SBU officers in Odesa region detained the offender on receiving a parcel with a pistol.
During the search the offender’s residence, the law enforcers seized two pistols of the Nagan system, a Kalashnikov gun, large number of ammo of different caliber and spare parts for firearms. The criminal proceeding was initiated under Part 1 Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The investigative and operative actions are under way.
