Vasyl Hrytsak: SBU is ready to counter all directions of Russian hybrid aggression
The Security Service of Ukraine is ready to counteract all directions of Russian hybrid aggression, stressed Vasyl Hrytsak, the SBU Head, during a working trip to the Odesa region.
Security Service of Ukraine thwarted nearly 100 attempts to incite artificial protest actions aimed at destabilizing the situation in the interests of Russia. “The Service blocked intentions of Russian special services to carry out a covert federalization and autonomization of several regions of Ukraine, in particular in the Odessa region,” said the SBU Head.
Since the beginning of the year, the Service has stopped a series of violent acts of terror that were planned in central Kyiv by Russian intelligence services against civilians and politicians. The Kremlin masterminds also pay particular attention to inspiring interethnic conflicts and destabilizing the situation in certain regions of the country. “Recently, we have exposed an organized group, which, acting on Russian instructions, vandalized the objects of national & cultural heritage of national minorities in different regions of Ukraine,” said Vasyl Hrytsak.
Recently, the SBU employees arrested two executors of an explosion of the Polish “Orlyata Memorial” in Lychakiv cemetery in Lviv, who also set fire to a Polish tourist bus. “According to available information, the terrorist attacks were financed by those close to the escaped ex-president, under the supervision of Russian special services,” the SBU Head said.
According to him, the Russian intelligence services keep trying to stir up a conflict, in particular in Bessarabia (these attempts are being successfully blocked by the SBU). “I want to feel the “pulse” of the regional management, the team effort in responding to the challenges that exist in such a difficult region,” said the Head at the working meeting with the SBU personnel in Odessa region.
Vasyl Hrytsak awarded the officers with eight certificates for apartments and with Service awards. The Regional SBU Office has also received two vehicles, including a medical transport.
