Kyiv: SBU exposes corrupt official of State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety
SBU officers in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office jointly with the Department on Corruption Prevention of the Ministry of Infrastructure blocked the system mechanism of extorting money by an official of the Department on Administrative Services of the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety.
The law enforcers established that the official extorted USD 38,000 from the businessman for issuing permits for international cargo transportation, giving the “deficit” of the corresponding forms as a reason. For each issued document the official received from USD 100 to USD 500. The official cost of the blank form was UAH 49 (USD 1,86).
The SBU operatives detained the offender in one of the Kyiv entertainment centers on receiving the subsequent bribe amounting to USD 4,600.
The urgent investigative and operative actions in the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated under Part 4 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine are under way.
