Transcarpathian Region: SBU detains head of the Customs Clearance Office
Officers of SBU Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime detained a corrupt head of the Customs Clearance Office of the “Solotvyno” BCP of Transcarpathian Customs, with help of the Main Investigation Department together and the Prosecutor's Office of the Crimea Autonomy.
Law enforcers found that the official systematically demanded money from drivers for unhindered passage of cars with foreign registration through the international Border-Crossing Point. SBU operatives have documented seven facts of customs official receiving bribes totalling USD 900 and over UAH 3,000 (about USD 150).
The officers detained the criminal at his workplace.
The head of the office was served a notice of suspicion in committing the crime stipulated by Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court arrested the individual with option of bail.
Pre-trial investigation is under way.
