Dnipropetrovsk region: SBU stops anti-Ukrainian network of Internet agitprop (video)
SBU officers stopped the activities of two residents of Dnipropetrovsk region who used RU-based social networks to incite the Internet users to massive demonstrations on Ukraine’s Constitution Day holiday.
The SBU operatives established that the residents of Dnipro and Zhovti Vody cities, performing the tasks of the representatives of the Russian special services, distributed in the social networks the specially prepared materials tailored for the residents of the region. During the past month, the offenders focused at provoking the mass unrests and violations of the public order during the events dedicated to the Constitution Day of Ukraine.
The materials included texts accusing the Joint Forces units in provoking the shelling of certain territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and fake reports of the supporters of the terrorists with make-believe numbers of losses by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The offenders campaigned for separation of central and eastern regions of Ukraine and their succession to Russia, as well as to enforced change of the constitutional order of our state.
During the authorized investigations, the law enforcers seized the computer equipment used by the offenders for distributing the anti-Ukrainian materials and the appeals to commit actions aimed at changing the territorial boundaries and the state borders of Ukraine. The agitators also had the instructions for bypassing the social networks and Internet websites banned in Ukraine.
The criminal proceeding was initiated under Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Urgent investigative actions are ongoing.
