Lugansk - SBU materials help to convict two terrorist accomplices
Materials provided by the SBU in Lugansk region helped to jail two aides of the “LNR” terrorist organization.
Law enforcers found that during January-February 2016 a resident of Popasnaya, Luhansk region, collected information on the quantitative composition, deployment and movement routes of ATO forces. The criminal then passed the received information by the mobile phone to representatives of illegal armed formations.
Special service operatives detained the terrorist accomplice at his home.
The court found the person guilty in committing the crime stipulated by Part 1 Article 111 and Part 1 Article 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court sentenced the informer to three years and two months of imprisonment.
The verdict came into force.
The Novoaydarsky District Court sentenced another accomplice of the militants for attempting to change territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.
SBU employees found that in May 2014, the resident of Schastya took an active part in conducting a pseudo-referendum in the city. The attacker, in particular, headed the so-called “Territorial Election Commission” and controlled the implementation of the illegal event. Thus, he expected to take a leading position in the ranks of terrorists. However, during ATO forces’ liberation of Schastya from the illegal armed groups, the criminal fled to temporarily occupied Lugansk, where he was offered no “positions”.
The court found the militants’ accomplice guilty in committing the crime envisaged by Part 2 of Art. 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him in the form of seven years of imprisonment in absentia.
The offender was put on ‘wanted’ list. The sentence would start from the day of his arrest.
