SBU takes part in organization of exhibition opening in Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine about Great terror of 1937-1938
In the framework of all-Ukrainian measures on the occasion of 80-anniversary of tributing to the memory of Great terror of 1937-1938 victims on the basis of declassified documents of the SBU archive the thematic exhibition opened in Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The exposition “Great terror: memory places” discovers mechanisms of communist totalitarian regime massive repressions and the geography of former Ukrainian political prisoners burials. The declassified by the SBU materials of soviet special services form the documental basis of the exhibition.
The exhibition is of great importance in view of recent adopted new law by Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on rehabilitation of the victims of communist totalitarian regime repressions of 1917-1991.The victims of these crimes only during 1937-1938 in Ukraine fell almost 2000 of persons, two-thirds of which were sentenced to execution. The communist regime tried to break age long will of Ukrainians for freedom and national self-determination.
The SBU face up to assist victims of communist repressions and their families in the search of archive documents for legal restoration of their rights and honour.
