Mykolaiv: SBU exposes corrupt deputy director of the regional Employment Centre
SBU officers under the procedural guidance of the Military Prosecutor's Office exposed a bribe-tacking deputy director of the regional Employment Center in Mykolaiv region.
The law enforcers established that a recently appointed official organized a scheme for systematically obtaining “rollbacks” from businessmen, for the implementation of projects funded by the budget.
SBU operatives documented that the official extorted from local businessmen UAH 300,000 (USD 11,500) for ensuring the conclusion of contracts for the goods delivery and perform works for the centre. “Rollback” amounted to 20-30% of the contract size.
According to the SBU, using the same scheme deputy director “worked” with traders from other regions, also inking the relevant agreements on behalf of the centre.
SBU officers detained the official in his office on receiving an advance payment from entrepreneurs.
The criminal proceeding was initiated under Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Urgent investigative actions are ongoing.
