In Donetsk region, SBU officers took part in commemorative events in honour of the dead defenders of our country and peaceful residents of East Ukraine.

Four years ago, militants shot a checkpoint between Olhinka and Blahodatne towns of Volnovakha district, staffed by the soldiers of 51st separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At that time 18 servicemen were killed protecting Ukraine.

In this place, the temple of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was opened in honour of the soldiers who gave their lives for Ukraine. Those present took part in the commemoration prayer and laid flowers to the memorial cross.

In this place, captain Victor Manzik heroically died while performing his duty. He died defending the rule of law and state sovereignty of Ukraine,” addressed the SBU deputy head major general Vadym Poiarkov the mother of the Hero on behalf of the SBU Head, SBU Board and staff.
