Lugansk region: SBU detains two Kharkiv policemen on businessman robbery
SBU officers involved in the operation of the Joint Forces detained two Kharkiv police officers for exceeding their official authority and for robbery.
The SBU operatives established that Kharkiv police officers uncovered a large amount of money during the investigative and operative actions in one of the Severodonetsk businesses.
The SBU officers documented that the Police operatives extorted from the businessman a part of money, promising to leave intact the rest of the sum. After the refusal of the businessman, the offenders seized cash amounting to about UAH 500,000 (USD 19,231) and returned to Kharkiv.
The SBU officers detained the policemen during the next visit to Severodonetsk.
The offenders were served a notice of suspicion in committing the crimes stipulated by Part 3 Article 365 and Part 4 Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine; a measure of restraint in the form of custody was chosen.
Pre-trial investigation is under way.
