Odesa region: SBU unveils corrupt official of State Service for Emergency Situations
The SBU officers exposed the inspector of one of the district subdivisions of the Main Department of the State Service for Emergency Situations on the systematic bribes in the Odesa region.
Law enforcers established that the official extorted money from local businessmen. The criminal promised, for the illegal financial gain, not to apply measures concerning identified violations during the inspections and not to obstruct approvals of the fire safety documentation.
The SBU operatives documented the fact of extortion of UAH 15,000 (USD 535) from representatives of two enterprises.
The SBU officers detained the inspector on his receiving the entire amount of the bribe and transferring of approved documentation on the one of the streets of the district centre.
The issue on serving a notice of suspicion in committing a crime to the detainee and choosing a measure of restraint is now being settled. Investigations are ongoing in the framework of criminal proceeding initiated under Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The detection operation of the official of the State Emergency Service was conducted jointly with the military Prosecutor’s Office and the National Police.
