Kyiv region: SBU exposes police officer on ammo trade 15:54, 18-10-2018
The SBU officers exposed a former inspector of Police Security Department on illegal sale of military munitions in Kyiv region.
The SBU operatives established that the former policeman set up the sale mechanism of firearms ammo to representatives of criminal circles.
According to the intelligence service information, the criminal received munitions from the region of the Joint Forces Operation. To sell the “goods”, the man involved a mediator - the resident of Vasylkiv region earlier convicted for crime offences.
The law enforcers detained both involved in court case at one of the district centre streets after realization of 1000 rounds. Seized ammunition was sent for further examination.
The detainees were served notice of suspicion in committing the crime, given a measure of restraint in the form of home arrest. The investigative actions in the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated under Part 1 Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, also for bringing other persons involved in committing the illegal activity to the criminal responsibility are under way.
The operation was conducted under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office.
