Kyiv welcomes “Safe Internet and Media Literacy” project
In conditions of Russia’s hybrid aggression against Ukraine, the Security Service pays particular attention to the law-enforcement work among Ukrainian youth concerning the impact of web-based social networks.
On October, 31, the project “Safe Internet and Media Literacy” organized by the Security Service of Ukraine jointly with the Department of Education and Science of Kyiv City Administration with the support of “Volunteer” NGO was held in Kyiv for the senior school pupils.
The project, focused on revealing all the shades and pitfalls of the Internet, was held in the “UNIT.City” Innovation Park. The event was visited by 20 most active schoolchildren from seven Boroughs of the city. “The idea of the project emerged after the exchange of experience with our European partners, as well as after the incidents with schoolchildren who were involved in unlawful activities by foreigners,” emphasized the SBU representative.
The project is designed for 2018-2019 academic year, it envisages practical lessons on forming information security skills for pupils and youth during their usage of web-based social networks. The project aims at development of critical thinking in children so that they can form own justified thoughts, use basic instruments of information verification. The participants will also learn about the impact of the destructive information materials distributed through the web-based social networks.
