Kyiv: SBU detains anti-Ukrainian agitprop pro
SBU officers in cooperation with the Crimean Prosecutor's Office detained in Kyiv an Internet-propagandist who, following the instructions of the Russian intelligence services, created an anti-Ukrainian channel on one of the popular video hosting services.
Within the framework of open criminal proceedings, SBU operatives have established that in 2015 the criminal created a video channel on the Internet for placing anti-Ukrainian content in order to destabilize the social and political situation in our country in line with the instructions of representatives of Russian organizations controlled by Russia’s special services. Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine documented that every month the man travelled to Russia, where he had meetings, received from supervisors instructions and “fees” for the completed work and the creation of new anti-Ukrainian information projects.
During the authorized investigatory actions at the place of residence of the propagandist, law enforcement officers seized digital electronic equipment and drafts with recordings of scenarios of provocation videos that can be used as evidence.
According to the Ukrainian intelligence service, in order to escape liability for anti-Ukrainian activities, the criminal planned to move to Russia, where he already set up a studio, with the help of the supervisors.
Internet propagandist has been served a notice of suspicion in committing criminal offenses provided for in Articles 109 and 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of choosing custody as a measure of restraint is being settled.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
