Vasyl Hrytsak, Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, awarded the employees of the SBU National Academy - Olena Kostevych, the gold medalist of the 2018 World Championship in Bullet Shooting, and Georgiy Zantaray, the bronze medalist of the 2016 Judo World Championship.

The Head of the Ukrainian special service thanked the athletes for ensuring high-level sport victories and recognition of Ukraine as the leading sports European state during difficult time for our country. “Thanks to your victories, the Ukrainian flag proudly wavers for the whole world to see, under the sound of the State Anthem of Ukraine,” said Vasyl Hrytsak.

For the bronze medal at the 2018 World Cup in Baku and participation in the All-Ukrainian Junior Judo Tournament dedicated to the employees of the Ukrainian special service who died on duty, the Head of the SBU handed the Order “For Bravery” to Georgiy Zantaray and congratulated him on the award of the military rank of “Major”. Georgiy Zantaray is the first world champion in judo history of independent Ukraine.

Olena Kostevych, who won the gold medal in the personal competition and was one of the first Ukrainian athletes to get a license to participate in the 32nd Olympic Games - 2020 in Japan, received the military rank of “Lieutenant Colonel”.
