Luhansk region: SBU blocks supply channel of munitions from Joint Forces Operation area (video)
In Luhansk region, SBU officers involved in the Joint Forces Operation in cooperation with the National Police, in the framework of countering weapons trafficking, blocked the supply channel of large consignment of munitions from the Joint Force Operation area.
The SBU officers established that the group of individuals equipped arms cache at a former military base near Severodonetsk. According to the SBU, the criminals planned to illegally transport the munitions to the central regions of Ukraine for further sale.
During the authorized investigations, the SBU officers found several caches of ready for sale means of destruction. The law enforcers seized 340 grenade launcher rounds, almost 250 grenades of various modifications, 150 explosives, 140 primer charges, RPG-26 and RPG-22 grenade launchers, flame throwers, jet engines, explosives, signal mines, tens of thousands of ammo for firearms. The total weight of the seized weapons is 5 tons.
The criminal proceeding was initiated under Part 1 Art. 413 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (loss of munitions).
In order to identify all circumstances and other persons involved in illegal activity, the investigative actions are ongoing.
In 2018, SBU materials helped to complete the pre-trial investigation regarding 30 offenders involved in weapons and munitions trafficking in Luhansk region. Eight of them have already been sentenced.
