Ternopil region: Secondary School to be named after killed hero - Ruslan Mulyar, SBU Colonel

In Ternopil, the public supported the initiative to name a junior secondary school No. 20 after Ruslana Mulyar, SBU colonel.

The public discussion took place in the walls of the same school, where the SBU officer studied. The representatives of the SBU Ternopil Regional Department, local authorities, teachers of the educational institution, parents of students and family of Ruslan Mulyar participated in the event.

At the beginning of the discussion the audience watched short documentary film about Life path of the killed SBU officer. After the presentations, the event participants voted unanimously to name the secondary school after Ruslan Mulyar.

“It is important that people remember my father. And trying to leave the next generation the memory of him,” said Natalia, daughter of Colonel.

After the event, the director of the school demonstrated to people a school-based Museum about the Joint Forces Operation in the East of our country. The head of the school said that it was the very figure of their school's graduate, Ruslan Mulyar, that motivated him to create the museum.

“During the preparation to the public hearing, I communicated with many people who were familiar with Ruslan. I heard only good reviews about him - as a blood brother, a friend, a husband and a father,” said Zinoviy Firman, the director of the school.

Note: Ruslan Mulyar – Officer of SBU SWAT team. Was born in 1975 in Ternopil. He was engaged in athletics, Candidate Master of Sports. Multiple winner of all-Ukrainian and regional junior competitions. Ruslan joined the ranks of SBU in 2001. For almost two decades, the officer rose from the ranks of the sergeant to the colonel, from the intelligence operative to the group officer. He was repeatedly awarded with departmental awards for professionalism, heroism and valor shown during the participation in the anti-terrorist operation.

Ruslan was killed during a combat mission on May 26, 2018 in Luhansk region as a result of enemy fire.

Ruslan Mulyar was awarded the order “For Courage” of III degree (posthumous) by the President of Ukraine Decree No. 158 dated 02.06.2018, for valor and dedication during the line of duty.
