Ivano-Frankivsk region: SBU exposes grain theft by officials of state enterprise
The SBU officers in the framework of counter-intelligence protection of critical infrastructure facilities in food security sphere exposed grain theft by officials of a grain-storage state enterprise in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
The law enforcers established that, according to the documentation, the enterprise should have stored more than 2,000 tons of grain and over 1,000 tons of flour belonging to PJSC “Agrarnyi Fond”. However, there were only 35.5 tons of grain and 15 tons of flour available at the storage facilities.
According to preliminary information, the state grain and flour were unlawfully sold by the management of the enterprise to private structures. The amount of damages to the state due to the illegal actions reaches UAH 15,000,000 (USD 517,250).
During the authorized investigative actions at the enterprise, SBU officers found business documentation, including materials on grain transfer which confirm the illegal activity. Also, during the searches at residences of the criminals, the law enforces seized the registration documents and the state enterprise stamps, which were allegedly lost.
The investigative actions on bringing to the criminal responsibility other offenders involved in the unlawful actions in the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated under Part 5 Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine are under way.
Exposing of the unlawful activities was conducted by the SBU Main Directorate of Economic Counter-Intelligence Protection of the State's Interests and the SBU Office in Ivano-Frankivsk region under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office.
