SBU blocks Russia’s special services attempt of cyber-attack on IT system of Ukraine’s judiciary
SBU officers blocked the attempt of Russian special services to conduct a large-scale cyber-attack on the IT system of the judiciary of Ukraine.
The SBU experts established that the attempt started via email distribution of infected counterfeit accounting documents. After user opened the files, the malware was covertly uploaded to computers, trying to gain unauthorized access to judicial IT systems and steal official data.
The SBU officers established that the detected virus was trying to link up to control-command servers with, in particular, Russia-based IP addresses.
Russian security services aimed to block the sustainable functioning of Ukraine’s judicial IT system, experts say. After joint actions with the State Judicial Administration and the State Special Communication Service, the negative impact was localized and the cyber-attack was contained.
SBU, as the key structure for ensuring national security, continues to implement a set of necessary measures to protect the critical IT systems of the state.
