Law enforcers find evidence of organized network for distribution of religious hate speech materials
Under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office jointly with the National Police, SBU officers found signs of the organized distribution network of materials that inflame religious discord.
Over the past several days, law enforcers conducted a series of searches in certain administrative premises of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and private buildings belonging to the representatives of this denomination.
During the searches the officers seized many printed materials inciting to religious and inter-confessional hostility, such as
75 copies of the brochure “UKRAINIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH: Relations with the Government. Attitude towards ATO and Church dissent. Q&A”, which has already been of interest for SBU (a corresponding expert opinion has already been issued).
According to the expert opinion of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Technical and Judicial Expertise, this publication “contains propaganda of religious intolerance... offends citizens' feelings... because of their religious preferences, provokes religious inter-confessional hostility and hate.”
Qualified experts will also evaluate other seized materials.
