Hrytsak: "Putin, by calling the crimes of PMC Wagner 'pushing through a conflict of business interests' is actually sanctioning secret murders, on a global scale"

On December 20, 2018, the Security Service of Ukraine published information on the possible involvement of PMC Wagner, a non-staff subdivision of the Directorate of General Staff of Russian Army, in the murder of Russian journalists O.Jemal, K. Radchenko and O. Rastorguev in in the Central African Republic.

The SBU found that Wagner's mercenaries are being involved, on a shift duty basis, by Russia's military intelligence to performing service tasks in the Central African Republic, as part of the umbrella structure - the "security service" of "M-Finance" LLC, a commercial firm affiliated with the very same Putin's "cook"-come-businessman E. Prigozhin.

SBU Head Vasyl Hrytsak appealed to the international community to organise an international investigation into the covert activities of Russian mercenaries in the CAR (https://www.ssu.gov.ua/en/news/1/category/2/view/5541#.6oCb2RJZ.dpbs).

On January 10, 2019, the SBU information was confirmed by the results of in-house investigation of the circumstances of the killing of journalists in the Central African Republic, published by the "Dossier" Center affiliated with the Russian opposition figure Mikhail Khodorkovsky (https://www.bbc.com/russian/news-46820833#orb-footer). The persons named in the investigation materials as individuals suspected in executing this KGB-orchestrated crime are among the 10 mercenaries whose personal data has been published by the SBU - Alexander Sotov (PMC Wagner personal No. M-5661) and Valery Zakharov (M-5658). SBU also confirmed the involvement of both Russian mercenaries with Prigozhin's commercial structure - "M-Finance" LLC.

Notably, starting October 2017 the Security Service of Ukraine informs about the expansion of the covert activities of Wagner PMC, regularly publishing relevant evidence of Russian terrorist activity in Ukraine, Syria, and the CAR.

"Putin, by calling the crimes of PMC Wagner 'pushing through a conflict of business interests' is actually sanctioning secret murders, on a global scale. Only joint effort can stop this," said SBU Head Vasyl Hrytsak.

The SBU is ready to provide the International Investigators with materials and relevant assistance that would help to expose the global criminal activity of Russian special services.
