Poltava: SBU uncovers corrupt official Judicial Administration

The SBU officers in the Poltava region exposed on the consistent bribes one of the deputy chiefs of Territorial Office of the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine.

The SBU operatives determined that the official set up a mechanism for receiving illegal financial gain from local businessmen for unhampered business activity. The criminal’s “service” cost 15% of the total sum of the concluded contracts for the refurbishment of court premises. For this amount, the official promised to assist in approving the acts of performed work and the timely money transfer to business’ account.

The law enforcers detained the official at his workplace on receiving the regular tranche of the unlawful benefit amounting to UAH 100,000 (over USD 3,570). Previously the SBU officers documented the criminal’s receiving the illegal benefit of UAH 147,000 (USD 5,250).

The issue about serving a notice of suspicion of committing a crime to the detainee and choosing a measure of restraint is now being settled. The investigative actions on bringing to the criminal responsibility other offenders involved in the unlawful actions in the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated under Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine are under way.

The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.
