Chernihiv region: SBU exposed hackers group preparing cyber attacks ahead of Presidential elections in Ukraine
The SBU officers within the framework of cyber security tasks exposed a group of hackers on preparing cyber attacks on governmental computer systems during the Presidential elections in Ukraine.
Law enforcers established that a local resident together with Russian accomplices penetrated the IT systems of the state government bodies in order to compromise them during the preparation and conduct of the Presidential elections in Ukraine. Attackers used viruses that allow remote control over computers of the state government bodies
The hacker received money for his illegal actions via payment systems of the aggressor country.
During the search in the criminal’s residence, the law enforcers exposed computer equipment, used for illegal activity.
Within the framework of opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 361 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, investigatory actions are ongoing for prosecution of other persons involved in unlawful activities. The detection operation was conducted jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office.
