SBU uncovers scheme for selling official information from State Fiscal Service databases
The SBU officers identified in Khmelnytskyi an organized group that created a mechanism for the illegal receiving and sale of sensitive information from “Inspector-2006” automated customs systems of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.
SBU operatives established that a officer of the KORD special-purpose unit of the National Police in Khmelnytskyi region organized with the help of two local customs officials systematic sales to private individuals of restricted information, including personal data, on vehicles and persons who brought these vehicles into the territory of Ukraine. It was documented that for over three months of illegal activity, the offenders “earned” more than UAH 200,000 (USD 7,407).
Law enforcers detained the National Police officer in Khmelnitskyi after his transferring of data to yet another “client”.
Within the framework of criminal proceedings, the facts of possible sale of personal data of Ukrainian citizens to representatives of Russian special services are being checked. Officer of KORD special-purpose unit was notified of suspicion of committing crimes provided by Part 3 of Art. 362 and Part 2 of Art. 361-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Urgent investigative actions are ongoing.
The operation was conducted by the operatives of the SBU Office in Volyn region jointly with the investigators of the State Investigative Bureau Regional Office located in Khmelnytskyi city under the procedural supervision of the General Prosecutor's Office.
