SBU blocks smuggling and marketing of cocaine in Kyiv region
Officials of the Security Service of Ukraine, in the framework of combating illicit drug trafficking, blocked smuggling and marketing of cocaine in Kyiv.
Special service operatives have established that a native of Donetsk, who temporarily lived in the capital, organized an illegal transfer of drugs from abroad for sale. The received "product" offender sold through an extensive network of dealers in the capital region of Ukraine.
Law enforcers detained the person in charge of proceedings under Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine on one of the streets of Kyiv during the sale of two hundred grams of cocaine - the next consignment of drugs.
The cost of seized drugs on the "black" market comprises USD 30,000.
At present the criminal was served a notice of suspicion of committing the crime, stipulated by Part 2 Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the custody was chosen as a measure of restraint. Pre-trial investigation on bringing to criminal responsibility other persons involved in the illegal activity is under way.
Measures to expose an offender were conducted jointly with police investigators under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office.
