SBU in Donetsk region terminates activities of anti-Ukrainian Internet agitator (video)

Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine involved in the operation of the Joint Forces during the execution of the tasks entrusted to the Service on ensuring information security of the state revealed anti-Ukrainian Internet agitator in Donetsk region.

Special service operatives established that the resident of Mariupol posted materials on the personal pages of forbidden Russian social networks calling for changes in the boundaries of the territory and the state border of Ukraine, inspiration of protest sentiments and popularizing the terrorist organizations "D / LNR". The agitator imposed on social media users a pro-Kremlin view on events in Ukraine, manipulating public opinion, especially on the eve of the elections to Verkhovna Rada to promote favorable candidates for Russia.

Law enforcers documented that the materials disseminated by the defender of the “russkiy mir" were aimed at radicalizing public opinion, in particular through dissemination of misinformation about the negotiation process for settling the situation in Donbas, provoking nationalist-minded people to protest actions. At the place of residence of an agitator, SBU employees detected and seized computer equipment, mobile terminals and sim-cards, confirming his illegal activities.

Within the framework of initiated criminal proceeding, the offender was served notice of suspicion of committing a crime set forth in Part 1 of Art. 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigative actions are ongoing to bring to justice other persons involved in unlawful activities.

Measures to expose and suppress illegal actions were conducted under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Prosecutor's Office.
