SBU exposes police investigators on ten thousand USD bribe (video)

Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, in the framework of combating corruption, have exposed two investigators of one of the city departments of the National Police of Zaporizzhia region on bribes.

The officers of the SBU Office in Kharkiv region established that officials demanded ten thousand US dollars from a representative of the commercial structure of Kharkiv. For the specified amount of illegal benefit, the policemen promised the entrepreneur to close the criminal proceedings for the alleged acquisition of businessmen property from Zaporizzhia region. The attackers involved ex-official of Kharkiv police unit as an intermediary.

Employees of the special service documented the receipt by officials of the first part of the bribe in the amount of seventy-five thousand hryvnias.

Law enforcers arrested two investigators in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine in the suburbs of Kharkiv after receiving one hundred and fifty thousand hryvnias - the next sum of unlawful benefits.

During the authorized investigations at the places of work and residence of the persons involved in the proceedings, the law enforcement agencies detected money and other evidence, proving illegal actions.

The detained policemen were served a notices of suspicion of committing a crime stipulated by Part 3 Art.  368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The urgent investigative and operative actions on establishing and bringing to criminal responsibility other offenders involved in the illegal activities are under way.

The operation on disclosure and detention of offenders was conducted jointly with the DBR under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor ‘s Office of Kharkiv region.
