SBU detains an agent of Russian military intelligence (video)
The counterintelligence officers, together with the Chief Investigative Department of the Security Service of Ukraine, under the procedural guidance of the Chief Military Prosecutor's Office detained an agent of the Russian military intelligence who went for Voronezh for a meeting with his curator.
Special service operatives established that an employee of one of the enterprises of the state concern "Ukroboronprom", a resident of Zaporizzhya, was recruited in 2014 on the temporarily annexed territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea by the officer of the General Directorate of the Armed Forces of the General Staff on the basis of material interest and support of the ideas of the “russkiy mir".
Employees of the SBU documented that an attacker for monetary award collected information on various aspects of the functioning of domestic defense industry enterprises and the socio-political situation in Zaporizzhya region for representatives of the Russian intelligence service. The collected intelligence data he sent through the given to him by the officer of Russia’s General Staff of Armed Forces channels of electronic communication, and also transmitted during personal meetings in the territory of Russia, the Republic of Belarus and temporarily annexed Crimea.
Law enforcers arrested the agent while crossing the state border with intelligence materials and seized the hidden magnetic media (micro SD), which contained intelligence information collected for the transfer by the order of the Russian side.
According to the results of conducting authorized investigative actions at the place of residence of the agent, computer equipment and media used for the processing,
storage and transmission of intelligence, as well as means of communication with the foreign party were detected and seized.
The offender has been served a notice of suspicion of committing a crime provided for in Part 1 of Art. 111 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and a custody for 60 days was chosen as a measure of restraint.
