SBU exposed Lieutenant-Colonel of National Guard having Russian citizenship

Officers of the Military Counter-intelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed the Lieutenant Colonel of the National Guard of Ukraine, who has Russian citizenship.

The SBU operatives documented that in 2014, the man, supporting the ideology of the so-called “Russkiy Mir", travelled to the temporarily annexed Ukrainian peninsula "searching of a better destiny". He received a passport of Russian citizen, a driver's license, was registered for service and, in a privileged manner, obtained a Russian military pension, since in 1995, as a member of the Armed Forces of the country-aggressor participated in combat operations in Chechnya.

SBU officers found that in 2016 the Lieutenant-Colonel started his military service in the Main Directorate of the National Guard of Ukraine with assistance of former leadership of the NGU. He received state secret clearance and voluntarily appealed to the command to send him to the ATO area.

Being part of ATO command staff, the Lieutenant-Colonel, in violation of the established requirements of secrecy regime, accumulated a large amount of secret information on his personal flash drives concerning combat missions of the NGU units involved in the anti terrorist operation.

In order to prevent the leakage and disclosure of information containing state secrets, officers of the SBU Military Counter-intelligence seized detected data storage device, the Lieutenant Colonel was signed out, the materials concerning his case were transferred to  pre-trial investigation bodies.
