SBU exposes resident of Donetsk region on the illegal sale of military destruction means
In the framework of counteracting illegal arms trafficking and combating organized crime, the Security Service of Ukraine officials blocked the illegal sale of military destruction means in the Donetsk region.
Special service operatives established that a resident of Slaviiansk, who has family ties among militants of the “DNR” terrorist organization, set up the illegal sale of firearms and ammunition. Buyers were mostly targeted by the offender among the representatives of criminal circles. “Goods" was transmitted by dealers to customers in different regions of Ukraine through one of the non-state postal services.
Within the framework of initiated criminal proceedings, SBU officers documented facts of three Makarov guns sale by the offender. During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that mentioned weapons were stolen by the members of pro-Russian illegal armed formations in 2014 during the capture of the administrative building of the Kramatorsk district police unit.
During authorized investigations at the place of dealer’s residence, law enforcement officers detected weapons and ammunition, origin of which is established.
The issue of detaining the offender in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine is being settled. He was served a notice of suspicion of committing a crime stipulated by Part 3 Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
In order to identify other episodes of illegal activity the investigative actions are ongoing.
The detection operation was conducted by the officials of the SBU Office in Kharkiv region jointly with the Main Directorate of the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office.
