SBU uncovers drugs wholesale via Internet
Illicit drug possession and wholesale of drugs was revealed within the framework of counteracting the illegal drug trafficking in Dnipro city.
SBU operatives established that a citizen of regional centre used postal services to obtain drugs for further resale. The offender sold obtained “goods” in the city and other regions of Ukraine via so-called “implants”. Drug seller set up and administrated a special site for seeking clients.
During investigative actions at the offender’s residence, SBU officers seized cannabis, methamphetamine, MDMA, amphetamine, LSD with total weight over 1 kilogram. The cost of the seized “goods” on the black market reaches UAH 750,000 (USD 30,000).
SBU officers unveiled illicit money, computer equipment and mobile telephones with material evidence of illegal activity.
The issue about serving a notice of suspicion in committing a crime to the detainee and choosing a measure of restraint is now being settled.
Investigative and operative activities for establishing and bringing to criminal responsibility other individuals involved in illegal activity are ongoing within the framework of criminal proceeding initiated under Part 2 Article 307 (“Illegal production, making, purchasing, storage, transportation, sending or sale of narcotics, psychotropic substances or their analogues”).
Information about offender’s involvement in human trafficking for work in drugs-related ‘business’ in one of the neighbouring countries is being verified.
