SBU in International Conference on critical infrastructure protection
International scientific and practical conference “Formation and prospects of development of the state system of critical infrastructure protection in Ukraine” was held in Yaremche, Carpathian region.
The event was organised by OSCE, SBU, Law Institute of Stefanyk National University and Ivano-Frankivsk regional centre of Ukrainian Public Organisation “Criminal Law Organisation”.
Advisor to the Director of the State Security Centre of the Republic of Poland and the Head of Legal Policy of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine took a part in the conference. Experts from the state bodies, especially from the Ministry of Infrastructure, Ecology, Energy, law enforcement bodies, representatives of “Ukrzaliznytsia” public railways operator and “Energoatom” national nuclear energy generator also participated in the event. More than ten universities from all the regions of Ukraine were presented by the leading lawyers.
Via assessment of 10+ years of USA and EU experience in forming protection systems for critical infrastructure facilities, Ukrainian scientists and representatives of the state bodies and enterprises, involved in the field are striving to design the most effective model for Ukraine.
Despite the fact that the critical infrastructure protection is one of the constituent parts of the national security, the Law on the state system of critical infrastructure protection in Ukraine is yet to be enacted.
With the participation of the SBU representatives, the members of the conference discussed SBU work in the field of critical infrastructure facilities protection and other problems of national crime prevention politicies. The resulting recommendations would be studied by the law makers, relevant draft bill will be sent to Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and used for improvement of the criminal legislation.
