Zaporizzhya: “subversive”, detained by SBU CI, is convicted for sabotage attempt
SBU CI unit materials helped to convict a resident of Donetsk region for sabotage attempt in Zaporizzhya.
During the pre-trial investigation the SBU experts established that a Russian native was recruited by representatives of the so-called “DNR Ministry of State Security”. The criminal was trained in EOD guerilla centre and was tasked to commit sabotage.
To execute the task, the militant came to Zaporizzhya with an improvised remotely-controlled 1.5 kg explosive device. The man planned to install and trigger the device in a densely populated district in Zaporizzhya. According to the plans of the curators, the explosion would have resulted in multiple deaths and socio-political destabilization in the state region.
SBU CI detained the “EOD expert” near the place where he planned the sabotage, on his attempt to trigger the bomb.
The criminal pleaded guilty in committing the crimes stipulated by Part 2 Article 15, Part 2 Article 258 and Part 1 Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Zhovtnevy District Court in Zaporizzhya sentenced the “subversive” to 5 years of imprisonment.
