Drugs by post: SBU exposes drug trafficking from Europe and East
SBU in two south regions exposed trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances from European Union and Middle East countries.
Law enforcement detained in Odessa a citizen of Moldova who set up a post channel of psychotropic substances trafficking from Benelux countries. He sold the “goods” Ukraine-wide via a special website. The dealer was detained when he received a regular overseas “delivery” with over 100 MDMA pills.
SBU exposed another smuggler in Kherson. Every quarter, a pensioner received parcels with drug-containing pills from his relatives residents of Middle East. He was arrested in similar circumstances with almost 350 drug-containing pills.
The criminal proceeding was initiated under Part 1 Article 305 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“Smuggling of narcotics, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors”). Resident of Odessa received a notice of suspicion.
Another pre-trial investigation has been completed on two smugglers of cocaine from Benelux countries (exposed in Kyiv region by SBU in June).
