Illegal extraction of minerals in Bukovyna and Cherkasy region causes almost UAH 30 million state losses
The Security Service of Ukraine blocked illegal extraction and shadow turnover of minerals, which caused UAH tens of millions.
In Chernivtsi region two companies conducted gravel sampling from the state quarry, which was frozen five years ago. Dealers used illegally extracted materials for the construction and repair.
The conclusion of the experts was, that state damages since the beginning of 2019 comprised almost UAH 20 million (USD 800,000). Law enforcement officers seized truck and excavator which were used in the illegal extraction. The issue on the arrest of special vehicles is under consideration. Within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 Art. 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, urgent investigative actions are ongoing to establish and prosecute other officials involved in unlawful activities.
In Cherkasy region operatives of the special service have documented that the top-management of the private batching plant continued extraction of minerals in the state quarry after the expiry of permits. Dealers manufactured finished products and sold throughout Ukraine. By preliminary estimates, the state losses comprise over UAH 7 million. According to experts extraction of minerals was carried out in the quarry where the landslides occur. This created a threat of life and health of people living near it. During the investigations law-enforcement officers seized financial and business documents, electronic media, false accounting, confirming the illegal activities of involved persons. Within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 Art. 364-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, investigations are ongoing. The issue of serving notice of suspicion to the top-managers of the batching plant is under consideration. In both cases the detection of illegal activities was conducted jointly with the Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office.
