SBU exposes heads of "dedicated" Police units on "protection" of bordels
SBU officers exposed heads of several units of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv City on “protection” of bordels.
Operatives of the special service found that the deputy head of the Department on combating crimes related to human trafficking and the head of the Unit on fighting crimes against public morals set up mechanism for obtaining improper advantage from bordels’ owners. For his services Lieutenant-Colonel and Captain of Police received each USD 2,000 per month from panders.
Law-enforcement officers documented several facts of receiving bribes by offenders.
Within the framework of a criminal proceeding initiated under Part 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, both policemen were served notices of suspicion. The issue of choosing the measure of restraint to the detainees is now being decided.
This operation was conducted by the Main Unit for Fighting Corruption and Organized Crime of the SBU Main Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv.
