SBU prevents leakage of secret defense information to Russia
In “Bachivsk” checkpoint in Sumy region the SBU officers together with the Border Guard Service apprehended a former Ukrainian Armed Forces officer who tried to export a USB drive with defense state secrets to Russia.
The USB drive contained electronic copies of documents concerning the activity of a military base, defense plans and lists of ATO participants.
A 35-years old citizen of Odesa (military occupation “commander of a special unit reconnaissance”) served in Crimea till 2014. After the occupation of the peninsula he moved to the inland of Ukraine and continued his duty.
In August this year the officer was retired and deprived of his military rank for violating military discipline.
A criminal case under Part 2, Article 422 (divulging military data that is state secret) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is launched.
The pre-trial investigation is under way.
