SBU apprehends hacker who blocks work of “101” emergency service in Dnipropetrovsk region
The SBU officers together with the Police apprehended a hacker who blocked the work of “101” emergency service line in Nikopol city in Dnipropetrovsk region.
The law enforcers established that the criminal used special telecommunications equipment and for several hours directed the exterior telephone traffic to the emergency service number. By his actions, the local citizen hindered the work of the dispatchers of the Nikopol Division of State Emergency Service that could jeopardize the life and health of people.
In the process of searches in the apartment and the working place of the criminal the SBU officers confiscated special telecommunications equipment and cellular communication terminals used for redirecting the traffic. The criminal explained his actions by the will to “test” his own capabilities of blocking telephone lines.
A criminal case under Part 1 Article 363-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is launched.
The pretrial investigation is under way.
