Odesa region – SBU reveals underground sewing workshops where illegal immigrants work
Odesa region – The SBU officers in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office revealed underground sewing workshops where illegal immigrants of one of the Southeastern countries worked under compulsion.
Illegal workshops functioned in Ovidiopol district of Odesa region and produced infringing clothes of famous brands, which were sold at Odesa markets. According to the information of the SBU, workshops daily produced goods at wholesale prices at the amount of nearly 5 thousand USD.
During the searches authorized by Court, the SBU officers revealed equipment for making counterfeit goods and finished goods. The law-enforcers detained 11 foreigners, who were staying in our country for a long time with violation of immigration requirements and without any work permits.
The SBU officers established that one of the organizers of the underground business was a former compatriot of the illegal immigrants who received Ukrainian citizenship.
The criminal case under Part 3 Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine was initiated.
The urgent investigative actions for bringing all persons involved in this illegal production to responsibility are under way.
