SBU uncovers amphetamine lab in Kyiv region
The SBU officers uncovered an illegal drug lab producing highly dangerous psychotropic substance amphetamine, in Vasylkiv of Kyiv region, in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office.
The law enforcers established that the residents of Vasylkiv used a rented country house to illegally produce psychotropic substance. The lab was functioning for about 6 months, the SBU informs. Every week drug dealers produced and sold around 300 g. of amphetamine to consumers, small-scale dealers and local clubs’ visitors.
The SBU officers detained in Vasylkiv four offenders who were attempting to sell a regular consignment of psychotropic substance.
During the searches at the drug dealers’ residences, the law enforcers seized equipment, precursor and chemicals used for amphetamine production. Almost 15 kg of cannabis was also seized.
The total cost of seized drugs and precursors on the black market exceeds UAH 1,500,000 (USD 60,000).
The criminal proceeding was initiated under Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
An organizer was notified of suspicion. The issue of choosing a measure of restraint is being settled.
The urgent investigations are under way.
